State Auditor Shad White recently included the Town of Coffeeville on a list of 68 municipalities which have not filed 2023 annual audits as required by law. Former Mayor William Shelton was notified in March that Coffeeville was delinquent in filing the report, and the town could have been at risk of facing a reduced ability to borrow money and being prohibited from accessing federal funds. When contacted by The Coffeeville Courier, Mayor Brad Ayers confirmed that the Town of Coffeeville was back in compliance, and the audit was finalized and filed with the Office of State Auditor Shad White last week. “Having gotten the 2023 report filed, we’re now turning our attention to the 2024 report so that Coffeeville remains in compliance with state regulations,” Ayers said.
