Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce held their annual reception at Fountain Square. The Chamber offered many well deserved awards across the city but one that sparked the Courier’s interest was the “Business of the Year” award. The North Mississippi Herald owned by David Howell, Editor, was named “Water Valley Business of the Year”!
David has been tied to the newspaper business all of his life and has owned the Herald for more than two decades. His dedication is unwavering, he strives to put out a “good” paper week after week. This award could not have gone to a more deserving person, hats off to the Chamber for making this choice. Congratulations David!
On a side note, we at the Courier want to thank David publicly for his willingness to help us as we have tried to learn the business. Without his help we would not be here printing a paper each week. Thank you David for being an ear to listen to some of our crazy ideas, a partner in the newspaper world and most of all someone we truly can call a friend. Congratulations my friend, well deserved!
