Pirates competed at the Super Region 2 -1A Meet this past week and more than twenty Pirates moved on to the North Half Meet this Saturday. On the Ladies side Junior Paris Turner placed 3rd in the 100 Meter Dash moving on. In the 300 Meter Hurdles Sophomore Kaylen Caffey placed 2nd and Senior Tyra Horton 3rd earning a spot in the North Half Meet. The Lady Pirate relay teams also placed well earning a 1st place finish in the 4 x 100, a 2nd place in the 4 x 200 and a 2nd in the 4 x 400 Meter relays. Senior Amyiah Whitfield placed 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 32’01.25”. Freshman Ayanna Smith took 1st in the Shot Put with a throw of 29’03”! On the gentlemen’s sideFreshman Juelz Cooper placed 4th and earned a spot in the 100 Meter Dash at North Half, Juelz also placed 3rd in the 200 Meter Dash. In the 400 Meter Dash Sophomore Jamerious Taylor placed 4th and heads to North Half. Marquazius Bland, Sophomore, placed 1st in the 300 Meter Hurdles! In the 4 x 100 Meter Relay the Pirate team placed second and in the 4 x 200 Meter Relay they earned 1st. In the High Jump Junior Stanford Spearman finished 3rd ad moved on. In the Long Jump Senior Lateric Willis earned 3rd place. In TripleJump the swept 1st thru 3rd with Senior Lateric Willis jumping 40’07” taking 1st place. Senodn place went to Junior Stanford Spearmand and 3rd ot Junior Josh Brooks. The Pirate Track Teams travel back to Olive Branch this Saturday for the North Half Meet and then the qualifiers will head to State on May 3rd. Good Luck!
