Early Morning Fire Destroys Older Home: Sunday morning as the sun came up firefighters from three departments were fighting a structure that ended in a total loss.
Sunday morning, June 23, the Coffeeville and Velma Fire Departments were toned to a structure fire on Kennedy Street in Coffeeville, the “Blue House” was reported to be on fire. It was unknown if anyone was inside as firemen arrived from three departments, Pine Valley was also toned for their tanker truck. We later accounted for all of the residents who were out of town and safe. This fire went from smoke showing on the top floor to fully involved in minutes and was attacked defensively. Over three hours later all fire trucks cleared the scene and what had been a landmark in Coffeeville for years was gone, “The Blue House“ was no more. Upon talking to Billy Dean and Christine Fielder, who bought the house in 1980 and years later sold it to the Staten’s, they knew they had seen a tax record from 1910 at some point. The structure had been added on to many times in the last 114 years, starting from a 2 room house, to what it was just a few days ago. The owner now does plan to rebuild on the lot and continue to reside in Coffeeville. Thanks to everyone who helped Sunday morning, it was and is greatly appreciated!
