Second Floor Water Line Causes Damage To Water Valley Courthouse

On the night of July 4th or the early hours of July 5th the Water Valley courthouse experienced a break in a water line on the second floor. This resulted in large amounts of water flooding the first and 2nd floors of the courthouse. Power and water were turned off early Friday morning to stop the flow of water and to also prevent electrocution or short circuitry of electronics.
A clean up and restoration crew has been on site since 12:00 pm Friday the 5th. Clean up efforts are still underway and are expected to continue through Saturday, July 13th. The areas that will be directly affected will be court proceedings in the courtroom this week and also the sale of tags in the tag office.
The courthouse will experience a delayed opening in the Chancery Clerk’s office in the morning (July 8)in Water Valley. If you have court scheduled in Water Valley this week please discuss with your contact for any arrangements concerning court.
