August 10 Event Features Magic Show
Students across the area through 8th grade are invited to join in an outdoor Back to School Celebration at the James Riley Swearengen Walking Track and Park in Oakland at 61 Walnut Street on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Challenges in a variety of games and a magic show will highlight the activities. The first 50 students receive free snow-cones and school supplies will be handed out until supplies run out. Hot dogs and chips will be served by the Oakland Beautification Committee. Back to School supplies are being collected at the Oakland Public Library and Cadence Bank in downtown Oakland. The event is sponsored by Oakland Area Chamber, Oakland Beautification Committee, Town of Oakland, Friends of the Library, and Friends of Cossar State Park.
