Friday evening the Pirates traveled to West Tally for a conference game, first one of the season, and made a good showing in the first half.
As the first half came to a close it was low scoring, Coffeeville actually had more first downs than West Tally in the first half. West Tally broke one play and went 55 yards for a touchdown and that is where it stood at the half, West Tally leading 6 to zip.
Second half fell apart for the Pirates and West Tally walked away with a big conference win, 36 to zip.
Pirates fall to 2 and 6 on the season and facing Leflore County at Itta Bena Friday evening for their next conference match up. We saw something that made this writer proud, our Coach Richardson stood his ground early in the third quarter and benched a player for the rest of the game. The losses look bad on paper but the growth of the team is amazing, it is coming. Our coaches have done good and if allowed they will build a program that excel in every way!
See Y’all at the game!
