A reception honoring sweet Joy Mullen will be April 6-2025, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. hosted by Yalobusha County Public Library System at the Oakland public library. Joy retired from the library board after over 40 years of service. Joey and Katelyn McClanahan of Jackson visited Bobby Joe McClanahan and family this weekend . Also visiting was Shelby Dewitt. They enjoyed a big crawfish cooking by Bobby Joe Saturday. A big group of family and friends attended. Martha Box is still working on getting back up and out . Will know more after Dr. Kellum’s check up Thursday. Missed church visits out of all . But TV ministers and Jesus’s love has kept me praising HIM . Sister Joyce did take me for a ride Wednesday to Enid. Yes the fish was exceptional. Daughter Ginger, Phil and the boys came by Sunday afternoon bringing good food and happy faces . Granddaughter Rissa is in bed sick with cough ,so I’m staying away. Nursing her via phone. Brother Jesse came and repaired my kitchen drawer for me so I cooked him some Ribs ( Hey Martha, do you have anything else that needs fixing? Ribs sound mighty good to me. ) Ginger Box Harrison said she had a great birthday weekend filled with fun and lots of love. Julia Kerr said her mother, Jessie Williams is feeling better but still got a ways to go. Julia and her two sisters, Sandra McCaulla and Connie Brassell are taking turns staying with her now. Jessie’s son, Phillip is back in Alabama and doing ok. Milton Harper cane home from Tallahatchie General Hospital Friday. He had a stomach virus last week and his wife Sadie said she has had it since Wednesday night. It is hanging on. Daughter Sheila has been taking care of both of us and now she has it. I just pray it will go away soon. Have you ever started cleaning a room and you find a stack of old birthday cards or get well cards or a box of old pictures you had forgotten about and you sit there and you go through every one and the next thing you know you have wasted three hours and the room still has not been cleaned yet? Spring cleaning gone bad!Please tell me I am not the only one that does that. Sounds like it will take me through Summer to finish my spring cleaning. Happy birthday to sweet Betty Osborn who celebrated March 31st! Starting our April birthdays is Dana Jackson on the 2nd, Jimmy Rowland the 3rd, Brent McMillian and Breanna Nobles on the 4th, Bubba Williams and Jake Harrison on the 5th, Lil John Dukes the 6th, Olivia Jenkins and Rachel Langham on the 7th and Keith Beck the 9th. May you all have a great birthday! David and I went to Grenada Thursday night and had birthday dinner at Orleans Bistro with Frankie, Brad and Bradley Holliday, Donna Garripoli, Earnie and Gale Holliday. The food was wonderful and cooked to perfection and the service was great! My baby granddaughter, Frankie, is 35 now! Recipe for the week. MeltIn Your Mouth Shortbread” Ingredients: 1 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar 1/4 cup cornstarch 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Directions: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Whip butter with an electric mixer until fluffy. Stir in the confectioners’ sugar, cornstarch, and flour. Beat on low for one minute, then on high for 3 to 4 minutes. Drop cookies by spoonfuls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Watch that the edges don’t brown too much. Thought for the day…….Hunger makes me say mean things!
