Sunday afternoon Was another relaxing day. Donna wanted northern beans, slaw, and buttermilk cornbread for lunch so that’s what we had. David did a good job on cooking the northern beans and ham hock.
Nathan and Jessica McGee took Rowland, Mary Brett and McLendon to New York for a few days. They saw Trump Tower, Grand Central Station, and several other places. They had a blast!! Mclendon said food was the best!!
Frank and Freda Weirwent to Augusta, GA for a few days to visit with her brother, David Melton, Kathy and family. Had a great time visiting and enjoying the nieces and nephew.
Jacque and Adam Chambers went to Baton Rouge May 15-18. They stayed downtown at the Hilton with a Mississippi River veiw. They went to see Jacque’s Houston side of the family.
We had a crawfish boil Saturday and visited until around 9 pm. We had some mighty good Pineapple in the crawfish boil and had some home sauce. I met cousin’s I’ve never met before. Sunday we went to an Estates sale and bought all kinda goodies. Then back to my cousin’s house for lunch. We had a seafood chowder made with leftovers from crawfish cooking. Visited the Bass Pro in Denham Springs and I found a boat. Monday we drove to Scott, Louisiana to Billy’s Boudin and brought back all kinda food and then got fresh Shrimp and a gallon of oysters from Chez Francois in Lafayette, Louisiana. They call me to come and pick up my boat. We had the best time with family just catching up and visiting. We loved watching the barges on my Mississippi River. We were the Hillbillies that showed up at The Hilton capital on Lafayette street downtown on the Mississippi River.
My cousin, Darrel Houston’s dad was a brother to my grandmother and I got to meet 2 of the sons. John is my age and we played together as kids but, I don’t remember. The other son, Eric came in from Houston TX. We did the cooking at John and wife Angie’s house. Met the kids and her two brothers also.
Nathan Hartley had a birthday party for his daughter, Mary Brett Sunday. Those attending were Mark, Faye, Kristie, Rowland, Mclendon, Hartley, Jessica McGee, Presley and Stella. Annie, Saylor and Emily Box. Nathan prepared a great meal. We had a wonderful time!! Celebrating birthdays this week are Sonya Jones Petraff on the 4th, Ginny Ford Roy on the 6th, Alex Ferguson Ballard on the 7th, Jake Rose, Kelly Paris, Charles Pyron, and Jonnie Sivley on the 8th, and Dusty McKibben on the 10th.

Wendy’s copy cat frosty recipe
Ingredients:
4 cups of chocolate milk
8 oz Cool Whip
7 oz sweetened condensed milk, and
1/4 Cocoa Powder
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until well combined. At this point the chocolate mixture will look like thick chocolate milk or be milkshake consistency. Pour the chocolate liquid into a metal loaf pan and place into the freezer. Every 30 minutes or so, take the pan out and stir the mixture and return it to the freezer. After about three hours in the freezer, you’ll have the perfect frosty consistency! Scoop into a glass and enjoy!
