November 8, 1945
Changes are taking place at the garage next door. Lee Denley is establishing a repair and welding shop over across the railroad on the old Leo Bowling blacksmith shop stand, to make room in the Brewer’s Garage for electrical equipment and an expected 1946 Oldsmobile.
The first frost of the season came Thursday morning, November 4.
Rev. W. H. Lowrimore suffered a broken leg Monday afternoon when a team he was driving out on Dr. Criss’ place became frightened and ran away.
Among our college students who are home for the weekend were Miss Sue Ellen Pate of MSCW, Miss Mary Alice Taylor of Blue Mountain and Misses Sarah Ellen Collins and Faye Saucier and Ira Pittman, Jr., of Ole Miss.
On Saturday night, November 3, Miss Lola Kate Jaco became the bride of Mr. Dariel Koonce with J. P. Walton Brower performing the wedding ceremony.

Mrs. John Collins, aged 69, died at her home Tuesday morning, November 8, after a lingering illness.
James Robert Williams who lives 5 miles north of Coffeeville is state 4-H Club corn winner for 1955.
Berkeley Brewer, manager of Brewer’s Grocery, had the misfortune of breaking his left arm Monday of this week when he was cranking a pickup truck.
Miss Marilyn Miller, of State College, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Miller of Oakland, has recently been elected to become a member of Phi Kappa Phi honor society which emphasizes scholarship character.
Among the 51 county winners of 4-H Club electric projects in Mississippi, Miss Priscilla Stevens is the 1955 winner from Yalobusha County.

A much larger than usual vote Tuesday of this week is still being tabulated over the nation, and that vote has elected John Fitzgerald Kennedy as the new President of the United States.
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Wortham of Coffeeville are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Miss Lura Wortham, to Jimmy Harold Besinger.
Marine Pfc. Bobby G. Rotenberry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rotenberry of Oakland departed October 1 from San Diego, California with an overseas draft to Hawaii.
Toots Peeples was elected as Girl With Best Figure in Coffeeville High School Who’s Who Contest.

The six junior high school cheerleaders are just about the peppiest in this community. They are Fran Parker, Jane Rider, Pam Denley, Rita Landreth, Susan Snell, and Jan Chapman.
Samuel Ernest Gerrish, 56, father of Mrs. Edward Earl Strange of Coffeeville was killed in an automobile accident near Newborn, Tenn., Saturday, November 6.

November 13, 1975
Two Yalobusha County residents, Anthony Eric Gioia of Coffeeville and Charles Kenneth Lippincott of Scobey, are among the 151 freshmen medical students at the University of Mississippi Medical Center of Jackson.
Ken Purdy, 14-year-ole son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Purdy, will receive the Eagle Badge in Scouting at the Church of Christ Monday night, November 17.
Rev. and Mrs. James Edwards of Columbus are announcing the birth of a son, Timothy Lee Edwards, who arrived Thursday, November 6, at Lowndes General Hospital in Columbus.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Cross of Selmer, Tennessee are announcing the arrival of a son born in McNairy County hospital Wednesday, November 5. He has been named Donald Richard Cross.
Letitia Shaw will play the role of Billie Dawn in “Born Yesterday” when the Speech and Drama Department at NWJC presents Garson Kann’s comedy November 17, 18, and 19 on the Senatobia campus.
Mamie Shields was awarded a National Association of Extension Home Economists Distinguished Service Award in White Sulfa Springs, West Virginia last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry Barton of Grenada proudly announce the birth of their first child, a son, born Tuesday, November 4, at the Grenada County Hospital. He has been named Brian Heath Barton.

Melissa Horton of Coffeeville returned November 10 from a band trip to South Bend, Indiana where the Ole Miss Rebels went up against the Norte Dame Fighting Irish. Melissa plays in the percussion section of the Ole Miss Marching Band.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Joseph Denley of Germantown, Tennessee announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Melinda Lea Denley, to Lt. Benjamin Patrick Hobday of Sacramento, California.
