Sewing for Service Club Donates 50 Wheelchair and Walker Bags to Yalobusha General Hospital
The Sewing for Service MCV (Mississippi Community Volunteer) Club has been hard at work creating wheelchair and walker bags for Yalobusha General Hospital and Nursing Home. Over the years, the group has made and donated hundreds of these bags to support patients and residents. Earlier this week, they donated 50 bags to the physical therapy department at Yalobusha General Hospital.
Recently, one of the club’s sewing members was attending physical therapy at the hospital when she noticed an older gentleman using a walker with a worn-out bag attached. She asked if he would like a new one, and he was thrilled to receive it. Moments like this highlight just how meaningful these handmade bags can be. They provide a practical way for individuals who rely on wheelchairs and walkers to carry the personal items they need while moving about more easily and independently.
A special thank you goes to the Sewing for Service MCV Club members for generously giving their time and talents to help others in our community and across the state. Pictured are Linda Harrison, Georgia Wilkerson, Elsie Harrison, and Lura Besinger.
The Sewing for Service Club is a member of the Mississippi Community Volunteers (MCV) organization, formerly known as Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers (MHV). All projects are funded through fundraisers and donations.
Those who would like to make a monetary donation to help purchase supplies such as fabric, Velcro, or thread, or to help service the sewing machines that keep these projects going, may contact the Yalobusha County Extension Office at 662-675-2730 or email Pamela Redwine at [email protected] for more information.
