Plant Swap April 18 @ Coffeeville Public Library Get your seeds and plants ready! Coffeeville Public Library will host our second annual Plant Swap this Thursday, April 18, 4:00 – 6:00 PM. This FREE event is sponsored by Friends of the Library and open to the public. We are partnering with Yalobusha County Extension Service and will have Master Gardeners on site. Pamela Redwine will present a program at the library at 4:30 on Cooking with Herbs. This will be great, and you don’t want to miss it. Last year’s Plant Swap was a resounding success, and we hope this year will be even bigger. There will be door prizes, crafts for kids, and more. Mark your calendar for Thursday, April 18, and plan to join us for a spring Plant Swap at Coffeeville Public Library. Oakland Public Library Hours In an effort to better serve the public, Oakland Public Library will be open until 6:00 PM on Mondays through the end of May. If you work late or have children who get off the bus late, we invite you to use the library on Mondays, 5:00 – 6:00 PM. Mandy Froberg will be working the evening shift on Mondays. If you would like to participate in a Library Needs Assessment, click on the link in the red box on the YCPLS website. https://www.yalobusha.lib.ms.us/ Libraries Closed April 29 Libraries will be closed Monday, April 29, for a state holiday. National Library Week Thanks to everyone who made National Library Week such a big success last week. Our week was jam packed and rain soaked. Rain blocked our view of the eclipse on Monday, April 8, at Coffeeville, but viewers at Oakland got a glimpse. Oakland Public Library and Friends hosted an Open House on Wednesday, April 10, which ended with a storm and area-wide power outage. Coffeeville Public Library celebrated 40 years at 14432 Main Street with a reception sponsored by the library and Friends of the Library. Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us! Spring Book Club @ Coffeeville Coffeeville Public Library is sponsoring a Spring Book Club for interested readers. Books are provided by the Mississippi Library Commission. We will be meeting soon to discuss and book, date to be decided. The book selected, The Art Forger by B. A. Shapiro, is based loosely on a true, unsolved art theft. Thirteen works of art worth over $500 million today were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston in March, 1990, the largest unsolved art heist in history. For anyone who wants to join us, the book is available to download free as an e-book or audio book from Hoopla using your library card. Adventure Begins at Your Library! Summer will be here soon, and we are already preparing for a great summer reading adventure for children at Yalobusha County Public Library System. This year’s Summer Library Program theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.” We are working on our program now and can’t wait to share stories, crafts, and lots of exciting adventures with area children. Be on the lookout for more information soon!
