War Clouds are gathering in Europe. In a spectacular move this week German troops marched into the territory near the Rhine River between France and Germany where they had agreed, at the end of the world war, not to place troops.
The Tillatoba Baptist Church was completely destroyed by fire Sunday morning.

Emmitt McNulty, 24, of the New Hope section, died last Friday after a lingering illness.
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Sayle and Ervin, Jr., have moved from Highway Street to the house on Sand Street lately occupied by Mr. C. J. Hamilton.
Ben Lee, 47, prominent railroad employee, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Lee of near town, died in the Veteran’s Hospital in Gulfport, Wednesday.
Martha Tierce, high school student, is at home in East End ill with scarlet fever.

Mrs. Lula Gertrude Harper died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Bell, of Oakland.
The first science fair was staged Tuesday afternoon in the high school auditorium, under the sponsorship of the Science Department of which Mrs. F. E. Collins is head. First place winners were Tommy McCormack and Marie Waddell.

David Arrington, captain of the boys’ basketball team, was named All-Star after the North Mississippi Class BB tournament in Water Valley Saturday night. The team will go to state this weekend as the number 3 team from North Mississippi.
Selected as STAR Student in the Coffeeville High School, Steve Brower in turn chose Mrs. Clyde Pace, mathematics instructor, as STAR Teacher.
Martha Gray, a student at Blue Mountain College, has been appointed as a Baptist student summer missionary to serve in Ohio this summer.

As of March 1st the Yalobusha County Board of Supervisors has approved Miss Judy L. Goodard as the Extension 4-H Youth Agent.
One of the social highlights of the season will take place at Yalobusha Academy on Friday evening, March 12, when Miss Passionate Von Mush (Allen Freer) will become the bride of Pretty Boy Floyd (Eldrege “Red” Coleman) in a womanless wedding.
Thomas Whitten Waller, age 84, died Wednesday, March 3, at Yalobusha County General Hospital in Water Valley.
James Rupert Magee, 67, farmer and cattleman, died Thursday, March 4, at Grenada County Hospital.

In a cancer benefit basketball game at the CHS gym Saturday night an array of Coach Paul Pittman’s former players (50s and 60s) entertained the spectators as they proved that they still retained some of their ball-handling skill. They beat the TV-9 team 62-48. Among those playing were Joe Martin, Hilly Griffin, David Gray, Hubert Clark, Jr., Francis Williams, Alton Pollan, Rodney Gray, Benny Fly, George Ayers, Ricky Denley, David Arrington, Steve Bailey, “Midnight” Williams, Spencer Williams, Bud York, James Edwards, Johnny Boyle, Burl Adams, Henry Dean Gray, Coley Bailey, Jerry Shaw and Allen Williams.
Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Hampton of Bolivar, Tennessee, are proud to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Cathy Leigh, to Billy Rider, son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Rider of Coffeeville.
Mr. Luther Braxton Schmitz, age 83, died at the Grenada County Hospital Tuesday morning, March 3, after suffering a stroke at his home Monday.

Named to the 4th Six Weeks Honor Roll at Calhoun Academy were Daniel Brooks, sixth grade, A Honor Roll; Dana Peacock, eighth grade, A and B Honor Roll; Don Brooks, tenth grade, A Honor Roll; and Jim Edwards, eleventh grade, A and B Honor Roll.
Mrs. Grady W. Butler, of Oakland, a member of the James Gilliam Chapter, Mississippi State Society, Daughters of the American Revolution was elected to the office of State Librarian at a metting of the 80th State Confernce held in Jackson February 20, 21 and 22.
