Joe Bailey, Jr. named chairman of The Cotton Stamp Committee for Yalobusha County. Other members are H. Gorden, O. H. Cohea, W. E. Benoist, R. L. Matthews, B. I. Toole, Bill Williamson, E. L. McVey, James Chapman, B. McCullar, Henry Allen and Vernon Craig.
700 boys wanted for CCC camps in Mississippi. Members of the Camp will earn $30 to $45 a month not including food, shelter, medical attention and supervised recreation which is offered. The men receive $8 cash, $7 a month is saved for each man and given upon his separation from the Camp, and his allottee can receive $15 a month.
Henry Branum, manager of Shady Springs Inn, will start playing the piano on radio station WHBQ Memphis, in a few weeks.

Sugar rationing ends June 11 after being in effect for five years, since April 28, 1942.
J. C. Flowers, pharmacist at Bates Drug Store, goes to Grenada to work for McClure Drug Store.
Roy Lynn French signs up for three years with the regular Army to be stationed at Fort Jackson, S. C. His brother, Kenneth, is a lieutenant with the Army now in Japan.
At an O. E. S. meeting recently Sue Ellen Pate Arrington gave a reading, “Why Do I Love You”, and Ervin Sayle and Janie Riddick sang “Because”.

A shower for the new Coffeeville Clinic was held at the American Legion Hut last Friday night. A large crowd attended with many gifts and cash contribution. Drs. Fields and Jesup are now operating the clinic.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Griffin Baddley were held at the Coffeeville Presbyterian Church Saturday, June 2.
Sam Allen Pittman, Bruce Stidham, Robert Williams and Eugene Shaw visited Chester Denley in Houma, LA. Bruce and Robert will be employed there for the summer months.

Dean Arrington was reelected mayor of the Town of Coffeeville Tuesday. Reelected to the Board fo Alderman were Raymond Brown, Johnny Dover, Morton Gorden, and Tyler Wortham, with newly elected aspirant, Joe Bourn named to finish out the five-member board.
Letitia Shaw was chosen Best Actress of a group of Northwest Players at an awards dinner at the Players Club recently.
New initiates of Phi Sigma honorary at the University of Mississippi are Bonnie Newman of Water Valley and Jeffrey Mark Scobey of Coffeeville.

Bill Rider retired from Kellwood Company Friday, May 30, after having been employed in the maintenance department since October 25, 1971.
Patricia Keith of Water Valley was named Miss George Payne Cossar State Park at a pageant held recently at the park. Karen Kimbrough of Coffeeville was named first alternate.
Mr. and Mrs. Joel Hale of Pontotoc announce the engagement of their daughter, Harriet, to Scott Neal, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Neal of Winona.
Ford Dye of Jackson was one of the eight recipients of the University of Mississippi’s prestigious Robert M. Carrier Scholarships.
