February Is Library
Lovers Month
National Library Lovers Month celebrates all things libraries. In addition to providing free access to books and other materials, libraries serve as community hubs and offer programs and services for all ages. This special month-long event is a great way to get back into reading and enjoy the simple things in life, and Library Lovers Month is the perfect time for you to share what you love about your local library. We have posters on which you may share why you love your library. We can’t wait to hear from you!
Federal Library Funding Restored
We are happy to report that Institute for Museums and Library Services (IMLS) has been restored after being scheduled for closure in 2026. IMLS provides federal grant funding to the Mississippi Library Commission which uses the funds to provide services and award grants to state libraries. Without the grant funds which come to public libraries through IMLS, our local library system could not purchase computers, new books, and many other vital services.
Thanks to all library supporters who contacted U. S. Senators and Representatives to ask for continued funding for IMLS and public libraries. Your calls, emails, and letters to the MS Congressional Delegation asking for their support of public libraries made a difference!
Winter Grab & Go Bags
Yalobusha County Public Library System has Winter Grab & Go bags for elementary age children available free. These bags contain lots of activities and crafts for kids to enjoy during the winter months.
