Deborah Baker, Grenada, spent from Monday until Friday p.m. with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Landreth, and attended Bible School at the Methodist Church. She was with several girls (about her age) for dinner from day to day. They all enjoyed being together. Mrs. E. N. Frost, Mrs. E. U. Holland, Mrs. C. C. Robinson and Mrs. C. V. Landreth attended the Home Demonstration Flower and Vegetable Show in the Extention Building in Water Valley. Oakland is, and should be, proud that Mrs. Landreth was sweepstakes winner in vegetables and tied with the flower winner. Am so sorry I failed to copy the names of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Phillips and Mrs. Henry Carson in the reunion attendance but I must have been thinking “J. W.” was ‘Wade’ as it’s the first time “J.W.” was with us. I’ll take the blame as I know Minnie P and Edith both called their names who failed to register, Sunday night. All I can say in addition, is I beg to be pardoned. We are glad to have the C. W. Callaway’s in the Mrs. Carrie Moore home and Mr. and Mrs. Jacobs and children in Mrs. Grady Butler’s home. Mrs. Brewer and daughter, Pam, entertained Ann Wallace, Debra Burns, Ruth Moore, Barbara Pruitt, Evelyn Caruthers, Lynda Ross, Janet Brewer and Garlyn Dorman with a pallet party one night last week. Garlyn is from Greenwood and, with her parents, is visiting his sister, Mrs. Richard Ross. Janet Ross is, spending a while with her grandmother in Yazoo City. Sandra Brewer spent last week at Camp Wrenwoode. Mrs. Steele and daughter are on a visit to son and brother, Charles Steele, in Los Angeles, California. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shephard, and son, Robert, from Alexandria, Va., are with her mother, Mrs. J. H. Parrish, this week. Mrs. Katie Burns, Ralph and Virginia visited Mr. and Mrs. Ethel Howe one day last week. Other guests of the Howes recently were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lavene of Clarksdale and Mrs. Marcus Burns and daughter, Bessie. Mrs. Bessie Fly is leaving Sunday for Jackson to visit Patsy Hartley. Mrs. Kenneth Hartley and little “Ken” spent Wednesday with her sister, Mrs. Milton Burns, while Kenneth carried his mother, Mrs. Hubert Harbour, to her Memphis doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Davidson went to Greenville Tuesday to see Mr. J. W. Davidson and went by the hospital, thinking Sarah Frances Cortesi was a patient. They learned she had gone home. Sarah, Louise, Billy and Roy Lynn Cortesi are visiting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sims Pipkin. Sarah L. will spend some of the time with Carl and Margaret Davidson and June. Linda Carvan accompanied the Davidsons to Greenville to visit with Mr. Allen Powers. Rev. and Mrs. Beckett went to Memphis last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Fay Brewer, and Randy, accompanied Milton Burns home from Winona to spend until Monday morning with them. Milton and Fay work together on the railroad. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shields of Spring Hill community, have had their daughter, Betty Jean, and three children and husband to visit them recently. Please pardon me for not knowing your husband’s name, Betty Jean. Miss Judy Arnold spent last week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Grisham, Toccopola, and Wesley is spending this week with them as Mr. Grisham is unable to drive right now so the children help him in that way as well as in many others. Mrs. Mary Alice McAdory, of Memphis, came down June 22 and had birthday dinner with her brother, Lucian Arnold, whose birthday is the same day of hers, June 22. John Arnold and Mr. Walton are putting in an antique store in Grenada. Misses Mary and Ruth Donaldson visited Mrs. Christine Sanders Friday afternoon in Batesville, I believe. Becky and Sherry Robinson are visiting their sister, Mrs. George Meek, in Courtland. The Bible School at the Methodist Church closed Friday with a picnic in the basement of the church, as there were indications of rain. A good rain is welcome on our hill I know. Couldn’t find many people at the home, our news will be a little short as I’m mailing Saturday in order to get it there by noon Monday.
