Love and sympathy to the James Edwards family of Coffeeville. Rev. Edwards passed away Saturday, June 15-2024. Cody and Beth Deloach and family spent a week at Gulf Shores recently. Lil Hallie had a great time playing in the sand along with the others. Miguel and Lynn Marceleno had Father’s Day At Chow King in Oxford, Ms. With Lyn’s parents, Uncles, Aunt, and Kinfolks. They got to see Pam and Robert Earl Upchurch and Erin. Mike and Rhonda Hailey of Houston visited Festus, Ruth Jane and Amanda Hailey Friday afternoon. Visiting us recently was Phillip Cross and Bobby Ray Jackson. Everyone’s friend, Martha Box, said she spent last week hanging out with herself. She spent all week piddling about working on her. Friday she and her sister Joyce Stevens had a wonderful catfish dinner at the Catfish Hut. She had a busy day Saturday, working on her home, she rested a bit and then out the door for a evening of fun. It was a beautiful, long lasting day. She attended a great Father’s Day service at Willow Springs AOG. Brother Tommy brought out requirements and duties as per the Scriptures and affirmed that God is our Father, Head Father of all. Even that as a woman, I was touched and led to a greater understanding and now I sit in the dark from the little storm thinking of the fathers that were called out to restore our power. Tommy and Debbie McCool had a Father’s Day cookout Sunday afternoon at their home after Tommy got off of work. Those enjoying the cookout were Angela and P.J. Dukes, Jason and Kimberly Beavers and daughters, Catilyn and Hannah. Lila Myrick said she got a phone call from Phillip Tillman Sunday night and he was excited about having a new great grandson born Sunday. What a great and blessed Father’s Day gift! David wants to thank daughter, Donna Garripoli for cooking his Father’s Day dinner Sunday and bringing it up to him. I thought she would never get through bringing in food! To top it off was a big cake with ice cream. Those enjoying the bounty of food was yours truly and David, Brad, Frankie and Bradley Holliday, Tim Sullivan and Donna. Happy Birthday to Hannah Meacham on the 17th, Bro. Jimmy Martin the 21st, Glen Rodgers the 22nd, Hunter Potts the 23rd, Sheri Harris the 24th and Lauralee Beardain the 25th. I hope you all have a great day celebrating your special day.
Recipe for the week: “Pecan Pie Muffins”
Ingredients: 1 cup chopped pecans 2/3 cup unsalted butter, melted 1 cup packed light brown sugar 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 2 large eggs, beaten
Directions: Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a muffin tin by either lining it with paper liners or greasing it with cooking spray. In a medium bowl, combine the packed light brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and chopped pecans. Mix well. In a separate bowl, mix together the melted unsalted butter and beaten large eggs until well combined. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Thought for the day…Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine!
