Please Return Library Materials! As school resumes, we want to remind those who have books and other materials checked out to please return them to the library. We love having students, teachers, parents, and others in the library during the summer months, but sometimes library books are forgotten and not returned. Please check around your house for forgotten library books, movies, or magazines and bring them back. Wednesdays are always Fine Free if you return items on Wednesday and request fines be removed. Summer Book Giveaway Friday, August 2, is the last day to win in the Sumer Book Giveaway. There’s still time to read and win this week. Children ages 3 – 14 may win 1 free book for every 10 easy / picture books or five (5) chapter books they read from our libraries. Children may have books read aloud to them. Request a reading record at the front desk, check out books, and read. Bring the reading record with books read listed to the library, and win free books! Since June, 205 books have been read in the SBG at both libraries Fall Book Club @ Coffeeville We will host a Fall Book Club at Coffeeville Public Library. If you’re interested in joining us for a lively book discussion, please call the library at (662) 675-8822 to get your name on the list. Volunteers Needed Our libraries occasionally need help with cleanup and maintenance inside and outside the buildings. Due to rising costs and a stagnant budget, there are many tasks we don’t have time or money to take care of. If you or someone in your family needs volunteer hours, please contact Patty M. Bailey, Director, at (662) 675-8822. Smokey Bear Reading Challenge Ends Nov 28 Smokey Bear is 80 years old in 2024! Help Smokey celebrate his 80th birthday by learning how to prevent wildfires and help the environment. Read 3 books and earn 4 badges to complete the challenge and earn your prize. Start by taking Smokey’s Pledge. Badges are earned by completing at least one activity in each section. Get a stamp for each badge you complete. Free Smokey Bear Reading Challenge sheets are available in our libraries. The Challenge is geared for ages 4-10, but all ages are welcome. The Smokey Bear Reading runs until Nov. 28, so there’s still plenty of time to complete the challenge.
