Libraries Closed Sept. 2 for Labor Day Coffeeville and Oakland Public Libraries will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, for Labor Day, a state and federal holiday. Oakland Friends Meet Sept. 4 Oakland Friends of the Library will meet Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 2:00 PM at Oakland Public Library for their quarterly meeting. Current members and prospective members are invited to attend and help promote and support Oakland Public Library. September Grab & Go Bags Yalobusha County Public Library System provides free monthly Grab & Go Bags for elementary age children filled with activities. Bags also include a craft and a treat. September bags will be available by Sept. 3 for pick up. Children parents, grandparents, and care givers are welcome to stop by either library to pick up a free September Grab & Go Bag. Fall Book Club @ Coffeeville Coffeeville Public Library will host a Fall Book Club at Coffeeville Public Library. The first meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 19, at 5:30 PM. The group will meet a second time on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 5:30 PM to discuss the book. If you’re interested in joining us for a fun and lively book discussion, please call the library at (662) 675-8822 to get your name on the list. The book selected is The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan, a charming, clever, and quietly moving novel of the endless possibilities and joyful discoveries about the promises we make and break, the objects that hold meaning for our lives, and the surprising connections that bind us. Library Card Sign-Up Month Do you have a Yalobusha County Public Library System library card? September is Library Card Sign-Up month, and I t’s the perfect time to get a library card. They’re free to residents of Yalobusha County. Visit our libraries in Coffeeville or Oakland during September to get your library card. Free Giveaways @ Your Library Coffeeville and Oakland Public Library offer lots of free giveaways in addition to access to free books, movies, and magazines. Check out the Free Little Libraries at the front of each building. They are filled with books and other free materials that may be taken at any time. Inside our buildings, we always have free coloring and activity sheets for kids, bookmarks, extra crafts, brochures, and other free items. Every month, we create and give away Grab & Go Bags for elementary age children containing activities, coloring pages, a craft, and a treat. Patrons may also find free books or magazines, a paperback book swap, and more in our libraries. Program Suggestions? Is there a program, guest, author or activity you want the library to host?
