Misses Mary and Ruth Donaldson were co-hostesses to the Delta Kappa Gamma at the Uniaversity of Mississippi recently. Last Saturday Dr. and Mrs. Frank Donaldson of Jackson, ate dinner with the James Donaldsons. Since Frank Fernandez left for duty in his branch of service, Mr. Avent has been elected to fill his vacancy in teaching in Oakland School. Rev. and Mrs. Billy Joe Beckett attended the Baptist State Convention in Jackson last week. Mrs. Beckett’s mother in Vardaman kept Tim and Joe while their parents were in Jackson. Mr. George Hammack, of Drew, visited Dr. and Mrs. B.L. Hammack Monday. Mrs. H. H. Boswell and Mrs. E. E. Stidham visited in Water Valley Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Allen Pittman and children, of Whitehaven, Tenn., visited Sam’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Pittman over the week-end. BUY AT BAILEY’S Why Shop Around … We Have Everything You Need! The Coffeeville Home Demonstration Club will meet Tuesday night, November 27th, at 7:00 o’clock in the home of Mrs. E.L. Lowe with Miss Ruth King as cohostess. All members are asked to be present as we will want to make our plans for our Christmas party. Mrs. Q. B. Gray was hostess to the Pasttime Boob Club Thursday afternoon. After playing five games of 42 Mrs. Gray served a lovely desert salad plate with coffee or tea. Mrs. W. I. Stone and Mrs. Ernest Womack were the prize winners. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harrillson and Mrs. Vetrus Lowe, of Calhoun City, visited Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Lowe and Libby Sunday. BUY AT BAILEY’S Why Shop Around … We Have Everything You Need! Joe Bailey III, Pam Davis, Hubert Clarke, Sue Shaw spent the week-end at Camp Lake Stephens attending a young peoples’ meeting. Mrs. Carrie Stepp is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, S/Sgt. and Mrs. John Lewis Womack in Albany, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bailey visited their aunt, Mrs. E. P. Tony in Lake Village, Ark., Wednesday night and Thursday. Mrs. Russell Bailey and Mrs. John P. Bailey attended a club meeting in Tupelo Tuesday. They were guests of Mrs. Bob Kirk. The Coffeeville Theater Late show Friday night at 9:30 and regular show 7:30 Saturday,. Nov. 24 TWIST ROUND THE CLOCK Chubby Checker, Dion, and Vicki Spencer, Mrs. Jim Horton entertained the MYF group with a weiner roast last Saturday night, November 10. James Donaldson and Milton Burns anttended the Masonic meeting in Water Valley last Thursday night. Last Wednesday afternoon Milton and his three, year old daughter, Karen, were down here at our house getting cow feed. (I was wondering if they would like me to sit with the children while they helped with prayer services at church.) I asked “Karen, are Mama and Daddy going to prayer meeting tonight?” She brightened up, replying, “We are all going to Pat Rack supper (Pot Luck.)” Mrs. England has returned from Gary, Ind., where she visited with her son, Kenneth, and am so sorry he doesn’t show much improvement. Mrs. Mary Matthews came home from the hospital Wednesday and seems to be doing mighty well. We are so glad she’s doing so much better. Mrs. Ramage, of Duck Hill visited Mrs. Jordan Wednesday. Mrs. Esther Swearengen is planning to carry her granddaughter, Juila Swearengen home to Dayton, Ohio, about Wednesday Mr. and Mrs. Dudd Ford, of near Pope, were guests in the Roy Ford home a week ago Sunday. Milton Burns got in from New Orleans Thursday evening after leaving Wednesday night for observation. The doctor said the x-ray showed great improvement. Milton will go back in two weeks and if there is as much improvement as was before he will probably be released to go to work. “I want to thank Mrs. Floy Holland for being so nice to bring our part of her subscription to us a week or so ago. She went to Coffeeville and gave Mr. Denley his part and told him she would hand ours to us. Dr. George Shannon Lovejoy and wife, of Memphis, drove by and visited Mr. and Mrs. Criss Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Haynes spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Haynes and Ray. He attends Northwest. Mr. Hayden Perkins, of Glen Allen, visited briefly with the Clide Landreths before attending the Bell’s wedding anniversary Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Burt, of Kilmichael, spent Saturday night with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. P. E. Bell. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Bell and Pat came Sunday and accompanied the Bell’s and Burts to the Open House at Mr. and Mrs. Doc Bell’s home. As Sunday was Rachel Burt’s birthday she had a double celebration. Others of Oakland and some close relatives from Memphis, Charleston, Water Valley and. Glendora were: Mr. and Mrs. Clide Landreth, Mrs. Walter Moore, Miss Elodia Swearengen, Mrs. Esther Swearengen and Julia, Mrs. Eunice Swearengen, S. A. and Charlotte Swearengen, Mrs. T. G. Wells, Mrs. Roy Ford, Mrs. James Moore, Mr. and Mrs. William Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Garner McCullar, Mrs. Ruth McCullar, Mr. and Mrs. J.B.Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kuykendall, Mr. and Mrs. Durrett Bailey, Mrs. Janie Lee Toole and daughter, Betty Jane, all of Oakland; Mrs. Annie (Bell) Peek, Memphis; Mrs. Mary (Bell) Stewart of Water Valley; Mrs. Ruth (Bell) Sturdivant, of Glendora; Tom Bell and Sidney Bell of Oakland (6, from the family of 7 children–Everette, of Paducah was only one absent.) The Coffeeville Theater Sunday, November 25 at 1:45, Monday, November 26 at 7:30 Due to length Sunday show will start early GONE WITH THE WIND Adm. downstairs 25c & 50c Mr. and Mrs. Bill Etherly, of Dallas, Texas, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Frost, Thursday night. Their coming was a surprise, so don’t know how long they intend to visit. Mrs. O. D. Partain, of Marks spent Sunday afternoon and night with her mother, Mrs. Luna Patton. Sunday afternoon company to her grandmother were Mrs. Leroy Reid, Mr. Reid and children of Lambert. Mrs. John Comegys, of Clarksdale, spent Sunday with Mrs. James Moore and Mr. Moore. Both the ladies went to Mr. and Mrs. Bell’s anniversary and stayed a while, then came home as Mr. Moore wasn’t feeling so well. Janie Lee said there was a crowd out there. We couldn’t name everybody who attended but hope some will write it.
