Happy New Year to all my faithful readers. I wish for all of you a wonderful, healthy and prosperous New Year! Christian love and sympathy to the Sandy McLellan Sturdivant family of Tillatoba. Sandy passed away Wednesday, December 25-2024 at Grenada Lake Medical Center. Such a sweet lady with a heart of gold. You will be sorely missed by many, Sandy. Faye Hartley said they had a wonderful Christmas. Nathan, Kristie, Rowland, Mary Brett and Mclendon were here. Lots of food and presents. Annie, Saylor and Emily Box came by and visited also. Tommy and Deborah McCool went to Greenville Wednesday afternoon when he got off work. Thought we would do something different this year because it just didn’t seem like Christmas since we wouldn’t be going to mom and dad’s. ( Ray and Opal Bell’s) We had a nice time but came home early so we could see the kids and grandchildren. Milton and Sadie Harper’s son, Ed Harper from Indianapolis came home for Christmas and had a job interview in Tupelo. He is hopefully going to get a job and move back South near us. They had all three kids here too. Enjoyed that. Mit, Dea and grandson Tom. Sheila O’Bryant and Ronald Love. Everybody gained weight!!! Ginger Harrison said they all had a blessed Christmas with family. Nice to have a little time off. A friend of the late Jimmy Dukes, Ricky Nations and his wife Vickie, drove from Virginia to visit Diane and family. They stayed all day with me, said Diane. We had so many laughs about Jimmy and me. He would always call me grumpy Dukes. He really loved Jimmy. He always said Jimmy was his person to go to when he had something going on. His wife Vickie is the sweetest person and so humble. She just goes along with what he wants to do. Diane and family had their family get together at George Cossar Park and they all had a good time. Everybody was there and everybody was happy to see everybody and it was just a good visit. You know you better love your family now because when they’re gone, you still love them but there’s a memory there and it hurts. Susan and Phillip Bell and grandsons, Wyatt and Jack from Caledonia came Saturday and brought lunch. It was my first time to see the boys and I fell in love! Wyatt is 4 and Jack is 2. ( Martha’s news was intended for last week. ) Merry Merry Christmas, my friends. The tree is up waiting on some things to go under it. I think I hear some sliegh bell ringing in the distance . And there was many night sky pictures on the news about a long streak of lights ! Had a wonderful Christmas gathering at Joyce’s daughter Melanie’s today. They fed us well as they celebrated together. And Joyce topped it off like Mrs. Santa Clause ! All that after a wonderful visit at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Such great Christmas music . Josh sang and picked “OH Little Town of Bethlehem.”Followed Jake’s singing “Silent Night Holy Night.” This G Momma almost jumped up clapping My Boys . All the songs brought Christmas out so true and precious. Followed by “OH Holy Night“ then Bro. Scarborough gave such a spiritual message that brought out the Wonder of Christmas! I am so blessed to visit and worship with them all. Our home was blessed Christmas Day with family and friends. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. That’s what makes the world go round! Daughter Donna and granddaughter Frankie along with David did all the cooking and they did a great job! I sat in the big chair with my foot propped up. Happy belated birthday to Derek Deck on the 24th, Harvey Darby on the 25th and Sheryn Goode and Kevin Harris share a birthday on the 27th, Donnie Dotson, Casey Cockerel and his sweet mother, Connie Crockerel and Jean Durham all have birthdays on the 29th and Jeff Tillman celebrates January 2nd. I pray you all had a great day, I didn’t put a recipe this week because I thought all of you were sick of fancy food for a while. Back to Stewed potatoes and hot buttered buttermilk cornbread! Don’t forget your traditional New Years food!
