Winter Reading Challenge Winners Our Winter Reading Challenge ended Feb. 28, and winners have been drawn. The winner of an Amazon Fire tablet at Coffeeville Public Library was Mariana Coleman. This prize was provided by Friends of Coffeeville Library. We also had quite a few readers who won a book or other prize. See the pictures in the Courier. Oakland Public Library also gave away an Amazon Fire tablet, and Wendall Carvan was the lucky winner. Congratulations to all our winners. Thanks for participating in our Winder Reading Challenge! Spring Break @ Your Library March 10-14 While students get a break from school March 10-14, Coffeeville and Oakland Public Libraries will provide Drop-In Crafts, games, STEM activities, and puzzles all week. Bring your family to the library to play with puzzles or a board game, build with LEGOs or Magna-Tiles, make a craft, or read. The library is the perfect place to hang out during Spring Break and have new adventures without traveling. Homeschool Hangout @ Coffeeville March 20 Does your family homeschool? Join us Thursday, March 20, at 4:30 PM for a Homeschool Hangout at Coffeeville Public Library. This group will meet every month on the Third Thursday for unstructured library fun. Library Board Meets March 21 The Administrative Board of Yalobusha County Public Library System will meet Friday, March 21, at 9:00 AM at Oakland Public Library. Library board meetings are open to the public in compliance with state law. Anyone wishing to be placed on the agenda must contact YCPLS Director Patty Bailey at [email protected] or by phone (662) 675-8822 no later than Monday, March 17. Mardi Gras Adult Program Feb. 28 A big “thank you” to Ralph (Bee) and Teresa Persick who gave a fascinating Mardi Gras program at Coffeeville Public Library Friday, Feb. 28. They shared authentic Cajun history and traditions of Mardi Gras celebrations in Louisiana. Bee & Teresa also made and served praline King Cake which was delicious. If you missed this wonderful program, check out the pictures and video of Bee on our Facebook page. Thanks, Bee and Teresa! March Calendar In an effort to keep the public informed about activities and programs planned each month in the libraries, we are offer paper calendars in both libraries every month. March calendars are now available in the libraries, and they are also published in the Coffeeville Courier. Please like and follow us on Yalobusha County Public Library System Facebook page to get the latest news and updates on library happenings. Spring Grab & Go Bags Spring Grab & Go bags are now available in our libraries. These free bags contain activities for elementary age children, a craft, and a treat. Parents, grandparents, and families are invited to visit either library to pick up bags for elementary age children and youth.
