Digital Skills Coach Kenady Helm will provide Digital Drop-In Sessions at Coffeeville Public Library Thursday, May 15, from 3:00 – 5:00 and at Oakland Public Library May 21 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. She will be available to offer in-person help with any digital needs. Appointments are not necessary, and it’s free. Homeschool Hangout at Coffeeville May 15 If your family homeschools, join us at Coffeeville Public Library on Thursday, May 15, at 4:30 PM for a Homeschool Hangout. Homeschool students and families are invited to come hang out at the library. Use library resources, check out books, or play with board games, puzzles, STEM kits, and toys. This group meets on the Third Thursday every month during the school year for unstructured library fun. Digital Skills Coach Kenady Helm will be here until 5:00. Come early if you need assistance from Kenady. Library Board Meeting May 16 The Administrative Board of YCLS will meet Friday, May 16, at 9:00 AM at Coffeeville Public Library. Library board meetings are open to the public in compliance with state law. Persons wishing to be place on the agenda for the meeting must contact Patty M. Bailey, Director, at info@ yalobusha.lib.ms.us no later than Monday, May 12. Hoopla Service Restored Hoopla digital service has been restored for YCPLS patrons. Due to the suspension of grant processing through the Institute of Museum & Library Services (IMLS), Hoopla service was not available during April. We are happy to inform our patrons who use this popular service that it is now working again. Our patrons should have four (4) borrows free per month. If you have trouble with this service, please call the HQ library at (662) 675-8822 or email info@ yalobusha.lib.ms.us We are awaiting word on when or if our FY 2025 LSTA grant funding to purchase books and materials will be fully funded. If not, this funding loss will have a devastating impact on our library system. SLP Registration May 19-30 Registration for our “Color Our World” summer Library Program for elementary age children will be May 19-30 at Coffeeville or Oakland Public Library. A parent or legal guardian should register children at either library. Children should have completed one year of school and be entering grades K – 7 next fall. The first 50 children registered will receive a free book and Summer Library Program bag filled with activities and incentives. “Color Your World” Summer Library Program Begins June 2 Plans are underway for a very colorful summer in our libraries! This year’s theme for the Summer Library Program is “Color Your World,” and we have exciting programs planned for elementary age children and youth. This year, we will be exploring color in art, music, nature, animals, and more. And the retile lady is coming back! The program begins Monday, June 2, at 1:30 at Coffeeville and Wednesday, June 4, at Oakland. We are always grateful for volunteers and donors to assist with the SLP.
